The MEC Ice Climbing Festival is seeking
volunteers to help run the public ice climbing
wall in Banff for 4-5 hour shifts on Feb 1st
and 2nd. Volunteers will help set up climbers
with gear, and belay climbers on the ice
climbing wall. This wall is open for everyone
to try for free with optional donation to the
Climbers Access Society of Alberta.
Our goal is to introduce ice climbing to the
public in a fun and non-threatening way. All
volunteers will be entered into a volunteer
prize draw, and will receive a ticket to the
CASA speaker evening and Silent Auction on
Friday Jan 31st.
Volunteer Schedule: Feb 1st & Feb 2nd:
12:00-4:30 Shift 12:00pm volunteers meet at
the old Bear and Butterfly building (adjacent
to climbing wall, 214 Banff Ave)
12:30pm-1:00pm wall orientation with
Yamnuska staff
1:00pm-4:00pm rotate between setting up
climbers with gear and belaying climbers on
wall
4:00pm-4:30pm Clean up
Also, belayers needed on Feb 1st... Alpine Club
of Canada Competition 4:00pm-9:00pm
4:00pm volunteers meet at Bear and
Butterfly building
4:30pm-5:00pm set up judge table, lights,
MC
5:00pm-8:00pm speed trials
8:00pm-9:00pm clean up.

*Cancellation Policy*: If a participant is unable to attend a paid course or trip, there will be no refund unless the participant finds a suitable replacement that is acceptable to the trip coordinator. Acceptable waiting list candidates will have priority. It will then be the participant's responsibility to recover funds from the replacement. If the coordinator cancels an event, participants get a refund (less any non-recoverable costs). Note that ACC National does not refund hut fees due to weather, delay, closures, or any other reasons. The Calgary Section of the ACC is a not for profit club and we only charge attendees what it costs us to provide courses or trips.
