Itinerary:
This is a skills day where participants get to put into practice skills learned on an AST course. Objectives for the day include using the Avaluator decision making tool and apply it with avalanche bulletins and Avalanche Terrain Exposure Scale (ATES); practicing appropriate travel techniques in avalanche terrain; reviewing snowpack test and their application; and enjoy some intermediate turns. We will NOT be reviewing rescue skills on this day. Come prepared knowing your rescue skills. You must travel on a splitboard and be comfortable linking fluid turns in a variety of conditions.
Required Items to Bring:
Beacon, shovel, probe, splitboard, skins, boots, poles, Avaluator, water, lunch and snacks, warm clothes and any additional clothing you like to have. Please bring a printed copy of the current avalanche bulletin.

How to Get There:
Carpool Departure Time:   06:00 AM
Carpool Location:   Stoney Trail/16th Ave recycling bins
Carpool Directions:   Located on the frontage road of 16th Ave just west of the new Stoney Trail intersection on the south side. Access is via the Valley Ridge exit, go under the hwy and take the first left on the frontage road (west) and it's about 1km on the right.

Notes:
Participants must have completed an AST1 or AST2.

Cancellation/Partial Attendance:
Please review our participant responsibility guidelines!

*Cancellation Policy*: If a participant is unable to attend a paid course or trip, there will be no refund unless the participant finds a suitable replacement that is acceptable to the trip coordinator. Acceptable waiting list candidates will have priority. It will then be the participant's responsibility to recover funds from the replacement. If the coordinator cancels an event, participants get a refund (less any non-recoverable costs). Note that ACC National does not refund hut fees due to weather, delay, closures, or any other reasons. The Calgary Section of the ACC is a not for profit club and we only charge attendees what it costs us to provide courses or trips.
