This 4 day trip will test your navigation and
route-finding skills. We will leave Calgary
Friday February 14 at 6:00 am and drive to Fernie
(about 3 hr drive) then ski to the hut; this
should take about 2 hrs. We will have to navigate
in avi terrain to get to the hut. We will drop our
packs off and enjoy a few runs before our 1st
night there. If avi conditions are high, this trip
will be
postponed. We will spend 3 nights at the hut.
Exploring the surrounding terrain for the next
3 days. Monday February 17 we will ski most of the
day then ski out late afternoon and drive back to
Calgary. Expect to be home late.
All participants are expected to participate in
route finding, avi conditions assessment and in
carrying group gear.
Money part: To get on the trip put your name on the
waitlist. If you have been selected, you will be
contacted and asked to send in your email money
transfer. You will have 3 days to submit your
payment. If you don’t pay on time, you will be
removed from the trip. The cost of the hut is
$60 per person for 3 nights. You need to bring
your own propane, food and money to pay the
driver.
Required Items to Bring:
skies, skins, avi gear, sleeping bag, sleeping
mat, safety equipment and 1lb propane bottles,
food,... (complete list will be provided later)
Cancellation Policy If a participant is unable to attend a paid course or trip, there will be no refund unless the participant finds a suitable replacement that is acceptable to the trip coordinator. Acceptable waiting list candidates will have priority. It will then be the participant's responsibility to recover funds from the replacement. If the coordinator cancels an event, participants get a refund (less any non-recoverable costs). Note that ACC National does not refund hut fees due to weather, delay, closures, or any other reasons. The Calgary Section of the ACC is a not for profit club and we only charge attendees what it costs us to provide courses or trips.
Trip Feedback If you have any feedback, positive or negative, concerning this trip or any other, we want to hear from you! You can send any feedback you may have to the Section Chair.
