Number has been increased because we can fit 3
people in two of the rooms and Jen now lives in
Nelson and doesn't need a room. Woot woot.
Do you think you are hard core? Do you think you
have what it takes to cook your food in a full
kitchen?, sleep in a heated building?, yo-yo in
beautiful pow? If you do, you should consider
signing up for this super duper hard core trip!
AST1 and ability to assess your own avalanche risk
is required. Decisions will be group based and
everyone will be expected to contribute to the
decision-making, even if it is just a "sure, I'm
ok with that". Preference will be given to new and
aspiring trip leaders. However, the ratio of
experience will need to be kept realistic.
The plan is to leave Friday afternoon (valentines
day) and stay near Cranbrook, the most romantic
city on the #3. We will likely ski in Kootenay
Pass on Saturday before heading to Nelson that
night. We will be based out of the Dancing Bear
Inn and will find yo-yo destinations each day
before heading home on Tuesday, Feb 18 (you will
need to get this day off work). A beer to anyone
who can crack 10,000 m in the 4 days.
Going to aim for 3 cars of 4. Each car will cook
one dinner and clean afterwards. Breakfast and
lunches are a free for all.
Cost will be ~$150 for hostel and hotel, plus gas
and dinner.
Required Items to Bring:
Skis, skins, poles, boots, avalanche transceiver,
probe and shovel. This is not a complete list.
Cancellation Policy If a participant is unable to attend a paid course or trip, there will be no refund unless the participant finds a suitable replacement that is acceptable to the trip coordinator. Acceptable waiting list candidates will have priority. It will then be the participant's responsibility to recover funds from the replacement. If the coordinator cancels an event, participants get a refund (less any non-recoverable costs). Note that ACC National does not refund hut fees due to weather, delay, closures, or any other reasons. The Calgary Section of the ACC is a not for profit club and we only charge attendees what it costs us to provide courses or trips.
Trip Feedback If you have any feedback, positive or negative, concerning this trip or any other, we want to hear from you! You can send any feedback you may have to the Section Chair.
