Itinerary: |
Shoulder season is training season!
This "backcountry bootcamp" will focus on
exercises to get us fit for ski season. Sessions
will be held every Wednesday evening for about 9
weeks (until the week of the Vert180 Skimo race -
date TBC).
You will obviously get maximum benefit from
attending all sessions, but that's not required -
just come along whenever you can. In early
December, we can test our new-found fitness by
participating in the Vert180 at COP (a 3 hr ski
mountaineering race, for individuals or teams).
Signing up online is really appreciated so I know
how many people to expect at any given session.
Sessions may include:
Running (warm-up, fartlek, intervals, hill reps)
Plyometrics (e.g. split jumps)
Weight-training (mainly body weight)
Resistance band(e.g. hip adductor)
Core exercises
Squat thrusts, burpees etc

How to Get There: |
Event Directions: |
|
This park is easy to get to, being right off 16th
Ave and just one block off the river pathway for
the cyclists.
There is ample free parking on the South side of
the road (right next to the park). Just don't park
on the North side of the road, which is permit
only.
We'll meet by the playground. It's a great space
for our exercises, and we are a short run to
Edworthy for warm up and hills.
The added bonus of this location, is that it's
right across from our house, where we can provide
hot apple cider after the workout when the weather
gets cold :)

Cancellation/Partial Attendance: Please review our participant responsibility guidelines!
*Cancellation Policy*: If a participant is unable to attend a paid course or trip, there will be no refund unless the participant finds a suitable replacement that is acceptable to the trip coordinator. Acceptable waiting list candidates will have priority. It will then be the participant's responsibility to recover funds from the replacement. If the coordinator cancels an event, participants get a refund (less any non-recoverable costs). Note that ACC National does not refund hut fees due to weather, delay, closures, or any other reasons. The Calgary Section of the ACC is a not for profit club and we only charge attendees what it costs us to provide courses or trips.
