About the Camp

This week-long camp is based at the ACC's historic Fairy Meadow hut in the Selkirk mountains. It's a spectacular setting, with lots of glaciation around. See the ACC's website at htt p://www.alpineclubofcanada.ca/facility/fairy.html for lots of info about the hut and its location. What a great early Christmas present for yourself or someone you love, a week of powder skiing in the Adamants!

The camp will be catered for a very reasonable price of $60/day. That means you show up saturday morning at the helipad with your gear and Mo's Mountain Cuisine will have 3 great meals a day for you prepared by your own backcountry cook. (www.mosomountaincuisine.com)

We access the hut by helicopter, from a staging area on Hwy 1 west of golden - there's a map showing the staging area location on the above website. We fly in on Saturday January 4th and fly out on Saturday January 11th. In case you haven't been around helicopters in the winter you should know that sometimes flights are delayed because of poor weather or poor visibility - there's nothing we can do about that, and no refunds will be issued in case of flight delays. If you are interested in purchasing any insurance against this scenario the national section club house has very affordable rates to help put your mind at ease.

During the week we will take day trips to the many great skiing areas around the hut. Frequently these trips will involve glaciers - so you need to be proficient at glacier travel. This is a self-guided camp, so all participants must be comfortable in avalanche terrain. The amount of terrain to explore is limited only by our ambition and fitness level.

This camp is run on a break-even basis.
