The Avalanche Skills Training Level 2 course will provide an intermediate level decision-making framework that is suitable for people with a moderate degree of training and experience.
The course includes 8 hours classroom time and 4 days in the field.
At the end of the course,students should be able to:
- -use the Avaluator 2 as a filtering tool to determine when additional planning and travel techniques are required to travel safely.
- -be familiar with Avalanche Danger Ratings verification techniques for personal use on a local scale.
- -be familiar with the ATES technical model as a means to develop personal,local terrain ratings.
- -use route finding to take advantage of nuances in terrain to manage personal risk.
- -use travel techniques in avalanche terrain appropriate to the avalanche conditions.
- -proficiently carry out a companion rescue.
- -understand the limits of their training.
Cost: $250.00 includes Staying Alive In Avalanche Terrain textbook + new CAA AST-2 field book + new CAA Avaluator 2 GST included

Prerequesites: Can ski in controll on blue runs at a mountain ski resort,AST-1 or RAC mandatory.
As this course is focused on existing/aspiring ski leaders and heavily subsidized by the Calgary Section, those interested in attending must request and submit an application form by Jan.11/2013.
Applicants will be evaluated by the T & L committee and selected based on information from the applications and volunteered activities for the club.
Meals and accommodations are the responsibility of the participants.

Cancellation Policy
If a participant is unable to attend a paid course or trip, there will be no refund unless the participant finds a suitable replacement that is acceptable to the trip coordinator. Acceptable waiting list candidates will have priority. It will then be the participant's responsibility to recover funds from the replacement. If the coordinator cancels an event, participants get a refund (less any non-recoverable costs). Note that ACC National does not refund hut fees due to weather, delay, closures, or any other reasons. The Calgary Section of the ACC is a not for profit club and we only charge attendees what it costs us to provide courses or trips.
