The plan is to leave the city after work Thursday night January 17, drive out to the HI (Hostel International) Castle Junction to spend the night, ski or ice climb from there both Friday and Saturday. There are 14 spots in the girls dorm and 14 spots in the guys dorm..yes it's separate at this hostel.
On the program: Johnston Canyon, Haffner or Bear Spirit for Ice and Mix climbing..
And Chickadee Valley, Panorama Ridge, Taylor Lake and more! for skiing.. Plan B in case of high avi: Lake Moraine Road cross-country or skate skiing, SunShine or Lake Louise resort.
so basically LOTS of options are this hostel is very central and at a maximum of 10-30min drive from any of theses trailheads.
Every person interested in participating will call the HI reservation # 1-866-762-4122 and make reservation & payment for themselves for 2 nights(or however many they want to stay). Price is $20.95(+tax)per night for HI members and $23.05 (+tax)per night for non-HI-members.
Thanks for coming prepared to lead some ski or ice trips.
Info on gear to take, carpooling etc.. will be sent to participants closer to the date.
