Itinerary: |
Join for a day to learn or review self rescue techniques for the vertical world. Learn how to escape a belay as a second and as a leader, how to ascend a rope, pass a knot and put your new skills into practice with scenarios.
This course is for anyone who ever asked themselves "what would I do if something happened right now?”
The course will be taught by Sarah Hueniken, a full ACMG Alpine Guide. (See Sarah's brief Bio below)
The cost for the day is $110 (tax incl.) and the reception of the cheque for the course will
reserve your spot on a first come first serve basis.

Sarah Hueniken's brief Bio.
Sarah Hueniken has been living and guiding in Canmore for the past 10 years. As a full ACMG Alpine guide, she spends her summers guiding rock and alpine and her winters guiding ice and mixed routes. Having climbed for over 18 years, Sarah has traveled and worked in various places throughout the US, Mexico, South America and Asia to explore the mountains of the world. Highlights have included a first ascent of a
6000m peak bordering Tibet (Sachun 5.10+ M5), new ice lines in Iceland, participating in various climbing competitions and achieving a personal goal of climbing 5.13. Sarah also works with Chicks with Picks, NOLS, and is an Outdoor Research and Sterling Rope sponsored athlete.

This trip will be run a first-come-first-serve basis meaning on who sends their payment first will be registered first. Payment options are as follows: 1. Send cash or cheque(s) in an envelope (make your cheque(s) out to the "Alpine Club of Canada - Calgary Section") and mail to Nathalie Roulin(address given at time of registration) 2. Send an INTERAC e-Transfer to Garnet Alberts using the Treasurer@ACCCalgary.ca email address.
Cancellation Policy: Withdrawal with a full refund is available 2 weeks before, ONLY if qualified participant from waiting list is available. No date changes, withdrawals or refunds 1 week before the course starts.
Cancellation Policy If a participant is unable to attend a paid course or trip, there will be no refund unless the participant finds a suitable replacement that is acceptable to the trip coordinator. Acceptable waiting list candidates will have priority. It will then be the participant's responsibility to recover funds from the replacement. If the coordinator cancels an event, participants get a refund (less any non-recoverable costs). Note that ACC National does not refund hut fees due to weather, delay, closures, or any other reasons. The Calgary Section of the ACC is a not for profit club and we only charge attendees what it costs us to provide courses or trips.
