Come out and join us for a day of ice climbing in
the Ghost. You might be cold all day, your hands
might get wet, and if it comes wore to worse, your
feet will get soaked crossing a river or breaking
through the ice into a slush pool in one of the
canyons. There will be a bombardment of ice chunks
falling down trying to scare you. After all this
is over and you are tired, cold and wet, you may
have to dig the truck out of a snow drift or cut
and push it out of the ice. MAYBE you will be
lucky and just have a nice day.
We will climb something in the WI3 range, or go
for an easy WI4 (one which normally would be W 3
to 3+ ;-) ) but nothing harder than that. The
route selection will be done by the leaders
depending on weather, temperatures and how we feel
that day. Depending on our objective, we may climb
as one group or split into two parties. Some
potential objectives are Albatross, the
Unforgiven, Dead Bird, Sunshine, Valley of the Sun
etc.
Even though it won't be a super hard route, you
need to know the basics of rock/ice climbing. You
should be able to give a belay, know how to rap
down a multi pitch route, etc.
Required Items to Bring:
I will send out a specific gear list as soon as we
got the group together.
Cancellation Policy If a participant is unable to attend a paid course or trip, there will be no refund unless the participant finds a suitable replacement that is acceptable to the trip coordinator. Acceptable waiting list candidates will have priority. It will then be the participant's responsibility to recover funds from the replacement. If the coordinator cancels an event, participants get a refund (less any non-recoverable costs). Note that ACC National does not refund hut fees due to weather, delay, closures, or any other reasons. The Calgary Section of the ACC is a not for profit club and we only charge attendees what it costs us to provide courses or trips.
Trip Feedback If you have any feedback, positive or negative, concerning this trip or any other, we want to hear from you! You can send any feedback you may have to the Section Chair.
