Itinerary: |
With the changing of the seasons we have the perfect opportunity to work on some fitness!
This "backcountry bootcamp" will focus on exercises to get us fit for ski season. Sessions will be held every Thursday evening for 8 weeks, with the last session on December 1st. You will obviously get maximum benefit from attending all sessions, but that's not required - just come along whenever you can. On December 3rd, we can test our new-found fitness by participating in the Vert180 at COP (a 3 hr ski mountaineering race, for individuals or teams).
Sessions may include:
Running (warm-up, fartlek, intervals, hill reps)
Plyometrics (e.g. split jumps)
Weight-training (mainly body weight)
Cable pulls (e.g. hip adductor)
Core exercises
Squat thrusts, burpees etc

How to Get There: |
Event Directions: |
|
We will meet at Picnic Site 5 at Edworthy Park. See map here: http://www.calgary.ca/CSPS/Parks/Documents/Locations/edworthy-map.pdf
This is about halfway between the 2 parking lots. We have NOT booked this site, so we may not complete the workout here, but it is a good meeting spot.

Notes: |
Guests are welcome, but will have to sign the waiver. There seems to be a website bug that keeps asking me to set maximum number of guests to zero!

Cancellation/Partial Attendance: Please review our participant responsibility guidelines!
*Cancellation Policy*: If a participant is unable to attend a paid course or trip, there will be no refund unless the participant finds a suitable replacement that is acceptable to the trip coordinator. Acceptable waiting list candidates will have priority. It will then be the participant's responsibility to recover funds from the replacement. If the coordinator cancels an event, participants get a refund (less any non-recoverable costs). Note that ACC National does not refund hut fees due to weather, delay, closures, or any other reasons. The Calgary Section of the ACC is a not for profit club and we only charge attendees what it costs us to provide courses or trips.
