Itinerary:

It's not full yet - this is a first pay first on event. If you're thinking of coming but are worried there are some on the wait list, just get your $85 in before they do :-)

Come join your fellow

Calgary section members for the

2nd (possibly annual) ski & social event to

ring in the new year!

Objectives for the trip include much merriment on new years eve, including music, beverages, frivolity, and dancing, possibly resulting in a slower start on new years day...

In the days leading up to new years, objectives may include yo-yo skiing, Mts. Gordon, Olive, or Rhonda, condition and weather dependent.

Bow hut is reserved exclusively for us all 3 nights!! The fee for the trip is $85 per person.
Please remember that the trip in to Bow hut is ~8km and 400m elevation gain (a 3-5 hour ski in) so is intended for intermediate skiers or better (linked turns on blue runs with AST1 course, crevasse rescue course very highly recommended).

Paid guests are welcome so long as they meet the above requirements/skill level and they sign the ACC waiver.

Just a quick update - we'll be looking through sign-ups and registering starting in mid-Oct! :-) ... it'll be on a first pay first on basis, email $ xfer preferred, cheques accepted too, details will be sent out then.

Required Items to Bring:
Tele or AT skis, boots, poles, skins, transceiver, probe, shovel, head lamp, first aid kit, pack, sleeping bag, ear plugs, food for the trip, and your own special beverages for this festive occasion! If attempting objectives (in other words, if you don't just want to hang out at the hut), harness, crampons, ice axe, 2 locking biners, 2 non-locking, 5m prussik cords(2), sling.

There's a good chance there will be strong cold winds on the icefield, so plan to be able to bundle up so there's no exposed skin just in case... e.g. scarf/goggles to fully cover face).

How to Get There:
Carpool Departure Time:   08:10 AM
Carpool Location:   Recycling bins by highway 1 / stoney trail.
Carpool Directions:   Green Recycling bins SW of Stoney Trail & Highway 1 (off service road).

Notes:

To finalize your registration and be moved to the attendee list, your hut fees will be due - details to follow

Also, a reminder that each participant is responsible for their own national park passes, as well as your own backcountry/wilderness passes as Bow Hut is classified as a backcountry hut - an annual wilderness pass is available through the ACC national office or from most parks offices.

Cancellation/Partial Attendance:
Please review our participant responsibility guidelines!

*Cancellation Policy*: If a participant is unable to attend a paid course or trip, there will be no refund unless the participant finds a suitable replacement that is acceptable to the trip coordinator. Acceptable waiting list candidates will have priority. It will then be the participant's responsibility to recover funds from the replacement. If the coordinator cancels an event, participants get a refund (less any non-recoverable costs). Note that ACC National does not refund hut fees due to weather, delay, closures, or any other reasons. The Calgary Section of the ACC is a not for profit club and we only charge attendees what it costs us to provide courses or trips.
