Description:
This route follows the summer Arnica Lake and Twin Lakes trails. We start at the Vista Lake / Arnica Lake trailhead, about 8km W of Castle Junction on Hwy 93. It begins with a 1.5km descent to Vista Lake, followed by a 3.5km climb to Arnica Lake at the base of Storm Mountain. We continue over Arnica Pass (NAD83 705749), descend to Twin Lakes, and follow the Twin Lakes trail down to its trailhead on Hwy 93 just W of Castle Junction. This trip needs at least 2 vehicles since we need a vehicle at each end of the route.
Required Items to Bring:
Avalanche transceiver, probes, shovel
Climbing skins, and telemark or alpine touring equipment
Personal repair kit and first aid kit
Extra warm clothing for our lunch stop and in case of emergency
Headlamp

How to Get There:
Event Directions:   If you aren’t meeting us at the car pool, be at the Twin Lakes trailhead by 0900, on the eastbound side of Hwy 93 about 100m W of Castle Junction. You’ll need to do a U-Turn at a safe spot on Hwy 93 to get to it. The car pool group should arrive some time between 0900 and 0915, and we’ll then arrange the vehicle shuttle to the Arnica Lake trailhead.
Carpool Departure Time:   07:30 AM
Carpool Location:   Shouldice Park, by the arena.
Carpool Directions:   On the west side of Home Road, just south of 16 Avenue NW. The departure time is 0730. Please be there by 0720 so we have enough time to put people and gear together for the car pool and still leave by 0730.

Cancellation/Partial Attendance:
Please review our participant responsibility guidelines!

*Cancellation Policy*: If a participant is unable to attend a paid course or trip, there will be no refund unless the participant finds a suitable replacement that is acceptable to the trip coordinator. Acceptable waiting list candidates will have priority. It will then be the participant's responsibility to recover funds from the replacement. If the coordinator cancels an event, participants get a refund (less any non-recoverable costs). Note that ACC National does not refund hut fees due to weather, delay, closures, or any other reasons. The Calgary Section of the ACC is a not for profit club and we only charge attendees what it costs us to provide courses or trips.
