Itinerary:
Outdoor Adventure for the whole family . . . right in the heart of Calgary Calgary Outdoor Expo and Festival, Oct. 30 - 31 The first-ever Calgary Outdoor Expo and Festival will take place Saturday and Sunday, October 30th - 31st. A consumer trade show offering something for everyone who enjoys the outdoors, the Calgary Outdoor Expo and Festival is focused on self-propelled sports - climbing, hiking, trekking, cycling, adventure travel, snowshoeing, and all forms of skiing (downhill, cross country, backcountry and alpine touring). Approximately 110 retailers, outfitters, and product brand exhibitors will take part in this outdoor extravaganza, including Gore-Tex®, Golden Alpine Holidays, Mountain Equipment Co-op, Lou’s Skiing Performance Centre and many more. The two-day show will also feature a wide range of workshops and demonstrations; skills presentations; a gigantic outdoor gear swap; three climbing walls supported by local climbing clubs and celebrity international climbers; a slack line area; cross country ski track complete with demo skis and boots; and an action-packed film festival featuring some of the best new rock climbing and snow sport films from around the world. All of this will take place at an easily accessible, pedestrian-friendly exposition site located beside McMahon Stadium in northwest Calgary. The Expo space consists of two huge domed pavilions plus 150,000 square feet of exhibit and outdoor demonstration space, a large green belt, and room for more than 2,000 cars to park for free directly beside the entry gates. The Calgary Outdoor Festival is a joint venture between Spirit West and Golden Alpine Holidays. Festival organizer, Steve Bommer of Spirit West, has considerable experience in putting together successful events. In the past few years, Spirit West has organized five sellout mountain film festivals in Calgary. (Next up is the 3rd Annual Calgary International Mountain Film Festival, scheduled for the week of April 25th 2011). So mark Oct. 30 – 31 on your calendar for the Calgary Outdoor Expo and Festival. Come on out, bring your family and friends for a great time in the great outdoors … right in Calgary. For more information, please contact Steve Bommer at (403) 263-1381 or visit www.calgaryoutdoorfestival.com. And, festival organizers are still looking for Calgarians’ ideas on how to make this event even better. Whether you would like to volunteer, have an idea for a great speaker or seminar topic, or are interested in purchasing exhibitor space, contact (403) 263-1381 or visit www.calgaryoutdoorfestival.com
