Itinerary:
Section member Clin McLean presents on his 2009 expedition to Nepal. Here is an excerpt from his blog: High Hope Pethangtse 2009 is a climbing expedition to the Nepal Himalaya with team members, Stephen Graham of Kelowna BC; Colin McLean of Calgary Alberta, and David Graham, father to Stephen, also of Kelowna BC. The objective is to climb Pethangtse (6738M) on the border of Nepal and Tibet and to traverse from the Barun Valley to the Khumbu across the three ice cols of Baruntse. Stephen and Colin are completing their fourth year in Geography at the University of Victoria and taking on this climbing and trekking challenge as a next step in their mountaineering careers. David has been enjoying mountains around the world his whole adult life and is taking this expedition on as a high point in a long history of mountain pursuits. The expedition is self-funded and un-sponsored but is supporting the charity Hope for the Nations, using this expedition to raise awareness to some critical needs in Nepal and to seek donations to the Hope for the Nations Young Adults Home. One hundred percent of the funds raised will reach worthwhile projects in Nepal directly. Read more at: http://pethangtse.wordpress.com/ Come and join us at the Bow Water Canoe Club for an evening of fun and lies! On the third Tuesday of each month (except July: no meeting and August: Edworthy Park BBQ instead) enjoy meeting friends old and new while finding inspiration in various slide shows by Club members or members of the larger outdoor community. Members of the executive will also announce upcoming section events, section activities and other general ramblings. Bring your wallet for a beverage at the Cash Bar These meetings are open to the public, in fact, we encourage non-members to come and see what we have to offer! Invite a friend.
