Itinerary:
Mount Wilson the "Direct Route" in Chic Scott's "Summits & Icefields - Canadian Rockies": The plan is to leave Calgary Friday May 7 at 6pm and drive to Saskatchewan River Crossing where we will spent the night at the motel . This way we will get a good night`s rest & can be at 6 am at the trailhead Saturday morning to do this direct route to Mount Wilson. The route starts from the David Thompson Hwy, about 1km E of Saskatchewan River Crossing. An hour of bushwacking will take us to the base of a 30-degree avalanche gully which leads to a col on the SE-E extension of Wilson's S ridge. From there it's a steep (40 degree) 150 vertical metre descent down a N-facing slope to the moraines and glacier. Then up and across the glacier and to the base of Wilson's NE ridge. Follow the ridge on foot to the summit. All participants must be comfortable skiing down a 40 degree slope in poor snow conditions, competent using an avalanche transceiver, probe, shovel, ice axe, and crampons, and must be familiar with glacier travel & crevasse rescue techniques.
Required Items to Bring:
AT or tele gear & skins, avalanche transceiver, probe, shovel, ice axe, crampons fitted for ski boots. Harness, 2 locking carabiners, 2 snap carabiners, 2 prussiks, 1 ice screw. Headlamp, personal first aid kit, lunch & snacks & lots of fluids.

Recommended Items to Bring:
Ski crampons or be prepared to boot-pack up the avalanche gully. Ski helmet.
