Itinerary:
Join ACMG Alpine guide Sarah Hueniken for a 2-day weekend course designed to improve your alpine efficiency. Advanced alpine rock techniques: This course is designed for the rock leader and follower that have a basic understanding of traditional rock placements and anchors. This is for anyone who: 1)Already climbs rock multipitches on their own but wants to learn how to be more efficient with their rope work and how to transfer their skills to alpine rock routes. 2)Scramblers who want to know how to protect exposed sections of their route 3)Rock alpinists who find they lack in efficiency to complete some of the routes they want to do 4)Partners who have different levels of risk and want to minimize consequence in small sections of the climb. Goals: 1)Understand risk and limitations 2) Know how to assess 3rd to 5th class terrain and build judgment on how to manage it 3) Know how to build 5th class anchor systems and belay off of them, off anchor, off belayer, why and when 4) Know how to use the rope in a shorter mode (short pitch), take in coils safely and tie it off, tie more then one person to the end of the rope. 5) Know how to use terrain as belays, identify them, and understand limits and uses 6) Know how to use simple body belays, sitting, hip, shoulder, hands, limits and uses 7) Minimize all above risks with route finding skills and communication The course will take place at Rundle Rock the first day with either a second day at Rundle Rock or a nearby rock ridge (Norquay, Buller etc) Cost:$189

Notes:
Sarah Hueniken has been living and guiding in Canmore for the past 8 years. As a full ACMG Alpine guide, she spends her summers guiding rock and alpine and her winters guiding ice and mixed routes. Having climbed for over 16 years, Sarah has traveled and worked in various places throughout the US, Mexico, South America and Asia to explore the mountains of the world. Highlights have included a first ascent of a 6000m peak bordering Tibet (Sachun 5.10+ M5), new ice lines in Iceland, participating in various climbing competitions and achieving a personal goal of climbing 5.13. Sarah also works with Chicks with Picks, NOLS, and is an Outdoor Research and Sterling Rope sponsored athlete.

*Note: *Registration details-Please read* Participants will be selected based on prerequesites/past experience.Payment must be recieved within 2 weeks of registering.Withdrawal with refund before May 29 ONLY if qualified participant from wait list is available.No date changes,withdrawals or refunds after June 5.
*Cancellation Policy*: If a participant is unable to attend a paid course or trip, there will be no refund unless the participant finds a suitable replacement that is acceptable to the trip coordinator. Acceptable waiting list candidates will have priority. It will then be the participant's responsibility to recover funds from the replacement. If the coordinator cancels an event, participants get a refund (less any non-recoverable costs). Note that ACC National does not refund hut fees due to weather, delay, closures, or any other reasons. The Calgary Section of the ACC is a not for profit club and we only charge attendees what it costs us to provide courses or trips.
