Itinerary:
Sport Leading Weekend Get your summer started right by getting a good base to your rock sport leading. This course is for anyone who wants to learn how to lead rock sport routes, belay a leader, clean routes and push their climbing ability to the next step. This course will also work for anyone who wants to get some top rope mileage in and have a fun weekend climbing in two different venues. Depending on peoples abilites and levels, some traditional leading can also be covered. Goals: Learn how to properly belay a lead climber with both ATC’s and Grigris. Learn how to catch a fall dynamically, or how to manage heavier climbers Practice clipping quickdraws, learn back clipping, z-clipping, easier ways to clip the rope through the draws. Understand how to manage the rope while leading to avoid flipping upside down. Learn how to clean a sport anchor by getting lowered, and by rappelling. Learn Rappel backups, and understand when to choose to rappel versus be lowered. Discuss and practice leading training techniques, how to redpoint, how to plan for your lead to add success Practice advanced movement techniques Possible venues for this course are Wasootch, Zygote, Grassi Lakes and Lake Louise Cost: $180 + $9 GST

Notes:
Sarah Hueniken has been living and guiding in Canmore for the past 8 years. As a full ACMG Alpine guide, she spends her summers guiding rock and alpine and her winters guiding ice and mixed routes. Having climbed for over 16 years, Sarah has traveled and worked in various places throughout the US, Mexico, South America and Asia to explore the mountains of the world. Highlights have included a first ascent of a 6000m peak bordering Tibet (Sachun 5.10+ M5), new ice lines in Iceland, participating in various climbing competitions and achieving a personal goal of climbing 5.13. Sarah also works with Chicks with Picks, NOLS, and is an Outdoor Research and Sterling Rope sponsored athlete.

*Note: *Registration details-Please read* Participants will be selected based on prerequesites/past experience.Payment must be recieved within 2 weeks of registering.Withdrawal with refund before May 22 ONLY if qualified participant from wait list is available.No date changes,withdrawals or refunds after May 29.
*Cancellation Policy*: If a participant is unable to attend a paid course or trip, there will be no refund unless the participant finds a suitable replacement that is acceptable to the trip coordinator. Acceptable waiting list candidates will have priority. It will then be the participant's responsibility to recover funds from the replacement. If the coordinator cancels an event, participants get a refund (less any non-recoverable costs). Note that ACC National does not refund hut fees due to weather, delay, closures, or any other reasons. The Calgary Section of the ACC is a not for profit club and we only charge attendees what it costs us to provide courses or trips.
