Come join us in our shop on Thursday February 8, as we continue to build a backcountry ski community and produce networking opportunities, while aiming to provide valuable insight, provoke thought, and promote discussion.

Come anytime after 6:30pm to socialize and network - the presentations will start at 7:00pm

Itinerary:

Frostbite: Jenny Strong (@skiingrox7) is a seasoned backcountry skier, climber, and mountain biker who combines her love for the outdoors with her profession as an emergency doctor. Join her for an insightful session where she imparts practical tips and tricks for frostbite prevention and field management. Drawing from her personal experiences in the backcountry, fellowship in wilderness medicine, and frontline work in the ER, Jenny offers invaluable insights to enhance your preparedness for your next cold-weather adventure.

What's In My Bag? This month, avid skier/biker/climber Bailey Lamont (@baileylamont43) will empty his ski touring daypack contents so we can see what we may be missing! Bailey is an Avalanche Practitioner (CAA) and the Avalanche Technician at Nakiska. He is currently working towards becoming a Ski Guide and currently doing a practicum with Neil Warren Ski Guiding (based out of Calgary). In the offseason he is a Mountain Bike instructor/guide with Alberta 66 Mountain Biking. Bailey will be fresh off a ski trip to Sentry Lodge so we can hit him up for some fresh intel.

Backcountry Stories: Oakley Werenka (@oaaks1) is a proficient local mountain adventurer (alpine climbing, backcountry skiing, ice/rock climbing, caving, and canyoning) who just happens to be a Sequoia Supply Ambassador. Oakley is preparing a trip report on a Columbia Icefield ski tour trip where he bagged multiple 11,000ers (11,000 ft peaks) all in a 4 day weekend. He will share how the trip was planned and the variables that were taken into consideration, and the execution and how everything came together with some photos and stories.

Cancellation/Partial Attendance:
Please review our participant responsibility guidelines!

*Cancellation Policy*: If a participant is unable to attend a paid course or trip, there will be no refund unless the participant finds a suitable replacement that is acceptable to the trip coordinator. Acceptable waiting list candidates will have priority. It will then be the participant's responsibility to recover funds from the replacement. If the coordinator cancels an event, participants get a refund (less any non-recoverable costs). Note that ACC National does not refund hut fees due to weather, delay, closures, or any other reasons. The Calgary Section of the ACC is a not for profit club and we only charge attendees what it costs us to provide courses or trips.
