Back by popular demand - ACC Ice Climbing Progression Camp!

Please read the details below carefully. Participants will be selected based on experience and what they want to get out of the the camp to ensure a similar skill level within the group. It will not be a first-come, first-served basis. So, please sign up if interested, regardless of the length of the waitlist!

New to ice climbing? Interested in trying out dry-tooling and mixed climbing? Do you want to elevate your climbing skills to the next level this Fall and Winter? Are you looking to learn the fundamentals to gain confidence in tackling objectives independently? This camp, led by myself and Sheldon Young, will help prepare you for the upcoming season!

The first event will be a gathering where we will cover the basics, including gear, skills, techniques, training, and address any questions you may have. Following that, we will have at least four climbing days, each posted as separate events. This will include two dry-tooling days at the Playground and two ice climbing days, with a potential weekend trip up the Parkway. These days will focus on climbing techniques and systems to equip you to tackle your own objectives independently.

If you're interested, please email Kyle (kylegpotts@gmail.com) with information about your experience (both rock and ice) and your goals for the camp. Preference will be given to individuals able to commit to all five events. Once accepted, you will be added to the other events.

The cost of this camp will be $50, plus hostel costs if we plan a Parkway weekend

Climbing Schedule:

Mid October: Dry-tooling at the Playground

Late October: Dry-tooling at the Playground

Mid November: Early season ice (location TBD)

Early December: Steep ice and mixed (Potentially 2 days up the Parkway)

Required Items to Bring:

Whatever you have questions about and stoke!

A detailed gear list will be provided for climbing days.

Cancellation/Partial Attendance:
Please review our participant responsibility guidelines!

*Cancellation Policy*: If a participant is unable to attend a paid course or trip, there will be no refund unless the participant finds a suitable replacement that is acceptable to the trip coordinator. Acceptable waiting list candidates will have priority. It will then be the participant's responsibility to recover funds from the replacement. If the coordinator cancels an event, participants get a refund (less any non-recoverable costs). Note that ACC National does not refund hut fees due to weather, delay, closures, or any other reasons. The Calgary Section of the ACC is a not for profit club and we only charge attendees what it costs us to provide courses or trips.
