Itinerary:

This will be a day of moderate exploration and skiing laps on the best safe snow we can find. We'll gather ideas from others in the hut beforehand, then head to the most promising area (hopefully just up Asulkan Brook) and look for good powder on safe slopes, either in the trees or on open runs. Expect 700 - 1000m of total vertical gain.
Participants must be in good shape for a moderately fast pace with few rests on the climbs, though we will be stopping for lunch and to re-group.

AST1 and backcountry skiing experience is required.

Required Items to Bring:

Modern avalanche beacon (with fresh batteries), shovel, probe
Warm clothes, food, water, headlamp
Skis, skins, poles, helmet

Recommended Items to Bring:

Snacks to share, first aid kit, map/navigation gear, emergency blanket/sack

Cancellation/Partial Attendance:
Please review our participant responsibility guidelines!

*Cancellation Policy*: If a participant is unable to attend a paid course or trip, there will be no refund unless the participant finds a suitable replacement that is acceptable to the trip coordinator. Acceptable waiting list candidates will have priority. It will then be the participant's responsibility to recover funds from the replacement. If the coordinator cancels an event, participants get a refund (less any non-recoverable costs). Note that ACC National does not refund hut fees due to weather, delay, closures, or any other reasons. The Calgary Section of the ACC is a not for profit club and we only charge attendees what it costs us to provide courses or trips.
