It’s time to expand your possible objectives and tours into huge glaciated terrain! `Why is this the best course for learning Crevasse Rescue Systems: 


        👍   Spend 1 FULL days with Brent Peters or peakSTRATAGEM, one of Canada’s top backcountry guides and mentors


        👍   Learn (or relearn) 2 simple haul systems that will open new doors for exploring Canada’s best tours and traverses and most epic lines and objectives that are ONLY accessed via glaciers


        👍   Review specific considerations for the latest small diameter ropes. 


        👍   Practice simulated 3 person scenarios with real weight


⭐  PLUS this course will prepare you for more advanced AMP (Alpine Mentorship Program) courses on glacier travel, navigation and ski mountaineering!


This one-day overview will teach you the basics of crevasse rescue systems! It is great for beginners, and for those looking to brush up their Crevasse Rescue systems skills. 


OBJECTIVES


Participants will:

  • Be confident tying the following knots & hitches: Figure 8, Rewoven Figure 8, Figure 8 on a Bight, Overhand, Slippery Overhand, Clove, Prusik. (prior practice is suggested)

  • Be comfortable setting-up and using rope systems for glacier travel including taking in coils

  • Be comfortable constructing an IDEAL anchor using removable protection

  • Be comfortable with simple 3 person crevasse rescue

  • Be comfortable with rope ascension

  • Be knowledgeable with small diameter rope considerations

*Cancellation Policy*: If a participant is unable to attend a paid course or trip, there will be no refund unless the participant finds a suitable replacement that is acceptable to the trip coordinator. Acceptable waiting list candidates will have priority. It will then be the participant's responsibility to recover funds from the replacement. If the coordinator cancels an event, participants get a refund (less any non-recoverable costs). Note that ACC National does not refund hut fees due to weather, delay, closures, or any other reasons. The Calgary Section of the ACC is a not for profit club and we only charge attendees what it costs us to provide courses or trips.
