The weather is looking good, smoke is much better up high and based on reports Assiniboine is "in condition". Looking for one or two folks to join for a trip to Mt. Assiniboine.

COVID 19; Please note there are new protocols and guidelines that we must all adhere to whilst taking part in club events and courses. Please ensure you have read and understood the following documents:
Calgary Section Protocols
Waiver + Declaration of Health and Exposure

Objective: Mt. Assiniboine N Ridge. Option for Lunette over the top if weather/conditions/team/timing permit. Will descend N Ridge of Assiniboine.

Access: Via Assiniboine Creek

Timing: Thursday - Saturday (2 day option as well depending on the team/weather/objective).

Tentatively leave Calgary Thursday morning and hike in to the Hind Hut. Climb Assiniboine and maybe Lunette. Head home.

Will discuss COVID measures for both climbing and sleeping arrangements.

Must be in good fitness, be able to climb 5.5 in mountain boots and scramble difficult terrain without a rope. When dry Assiniboine has two rock bands that may require belayed climbing.

If the team decides to go for Lunette it requires climbing low fifth terrain and route finding.

If interested please put your name on the waitlist and email John.mcmechan@yahoo.ca with details of your experience and recent trips. Once this has been reviewed you will be notified if you are accepted on the event.

Required Items to Bring:

Gear for mountaineering (boots, helmet, harness, ice axe, crampons, ATC, cordelette, etc.)

Light glacier package

Bivy gear

Will discuss specifics with people on the trip

Chicken wire for your vehicle at the trailhead.
