Description: Old Goat Mountain is rated by Nugara as a "climbers' scramble", which typically means 4th class with some low 5th class climbing up to about 5.3. The difficult section is the last 450m from the col above Old Goat Glacier to the summit. We'll most likely be short-roping this section and may have to do a few rappels on the way down. Instead of reaching the aforementioned col as described in the above references, we'll reach the col via the Old Goat Glacier hiking trail and the glacier itself. This should be a more interesting but somewhat longer approach. The photo shows the glacier and col at the lower left, with the E ridge rising to the right of the col.

Because of limited daylight hours, participants must be able to climb quickly and confidently UP AND DOWN on exposed terrain up to 5.3.
NOTE: I have not done this route before.
