For level 1 participants the expectation is that you are NOT new to ice climbing. You have been on ice a handful of times and can FOLLOW WI3. The goal of this event is to teach you the correct ice climbing technique. Yes there is a technique to this! At the end of the course you should feel comfortable moving on ice, finding rest positions, avoiding pump and fully enjoying your ice time. And more importantly look like you know what you are doing.

Sebastian was born in Romania. After finishing a college degree in Social Science and building his climbing skills, Sebastian spent several years travelling and climbing in Europe, South America and across Canada. n 2014
Sebastian came to the Rockies for a month of ice climbing and the following year moved to Canmore altogether. More and more time was spent climbing all throughout the year, and in 2016 Sebastian entered the Guiding career by taking his first course with the ACMG. He was certified Apprentice Alpine Guide in 2018. Sebastian prefers to spend all his available time ice, alpine and multipitch climbing, a task that became a bit harder since he became a new and happy Dad in 2017.

Cancellation/Partial Attendance:
Please review our participant responsibility guidelines!

Once payment has been received by the treasurer you will be moved to the confirmed list. There will be no refund for cancellations. Courses will run regardless of weather unless the guide deems conditions unsafe then a back-up option may be executed. This is to be decided by the guide the evening before.
*Cancellation Policy*: If a participant is unable to attend a paid course or trip, there will be no refund unless the participant finds a suitable replacement that is acceptable to the trip coordinator. Acceptable waiting list candidates will have priority. It will then be the participant's responsibility to recover funds from the replacement. If the coordinator cancels an event, participants get a refund (less any non-recoverable costs). Note that ACC National does not refund hut fees due to weather, delay, closures, or any other reasons. The Calgary Section of the ACC is a not for profit club and we only charge attendees what it costs us to provide courses or trips.
