Overview
Icefall Lodge (51, 52.405'N 117, 07.690W) is a new area located in a spectacular setting just S of the Lyells and W of Mount Forbes. It’s just W of the continental divide, about halfway between the Campbell Icefields and Mount Alexandra, location of the 2007 GMC. Expect terrain similar to the Campbell Icefields but on a grander scale. The longest run is almost 7,000 vertical feet! The lodge is located at treeline with access to over 200 square km of skiing terrain including glaciers, summits, bowls, and trees. For those interested in ski mountaineering, there are five 11,000 ft ski summits! The ACC selected Icefall Lodge for its North Face Winter Leadership Training Course. To see some amazing photos of the trip, go to http://nstgeorges.smugmug.com/gallery/4162956#242895091.

Ability & Equipment
You should be at least a strong intermediate backcountry skier. Either alpine touring or telemark gear is suitable, but unless you’re a strong telemarker, alpine touring gear is a better choice.

The Lodge
….We fly into the lodge by helicopter from Donald, about 25km N of Golden on the TransCanada. We’ll be self-guided and self-catered. We’ll have shared breakfasts and dinners, with individuals looking after their own lunches. I’ll divide people into cooking groups for the shared meals. There will be 2 people in a group with each group responsible for one breakfast and dinner.
….The kitchen has a propane stove with oven, and all cooking and eating utensils. The living/dinning room has large windows with glacier views and a cozy wood stove. There is a separate drying room with a propane heater for wet gear. An indoor pee toilet avoids a cold walk in the middle of the night.
….There is a separate sauna building with a change room and a loft above. Shower water is heated in the sauna, and transferred to a watering can. There is a separate shower stall where the watering can is hoisted up and tied off.
….The lodge can comfortably accommodate 13 people in a variety of sleeping arrangements. There are 3 bright bedrooms with a double and single bed and one room with 3 singles. There are also 3 loft style rooms with double mattresses. Duvets and pillows are provided, however guests are asked to bring their own sheets.

Cancellation/Partial Attendance:
Please review our participant responsibility guidelines!

No refund unless you or I can find an acceptable replacement.
*Cancellation Policy*: If a participant is unable to attend a paid course or trip, there will be no refund unless the participant finds a suitable replacement that is acceptable to the trip coordinator. Acceptable waiting list candidates will have priority. It will then be the participant's responsibility to recover funds from the replacement. If the coordinator cancels an event, participants get a refund (less any non-recoverable costs). Note that ACC National does not refund hut fees due to weather, delay, closures, or any other reasons. The Calgary Section of the ACC is a not for profit club and we only charge attendees what it costs us to provide courses or trips.
