Itinerary:
This is an overflow trip from Andy's Saturday Mount Rae trip. Qualified people who were on his waiting list will get priority for this trip. The objective is to do a scramble/climb under mixed winter conditions, i.e. rock, snow, and ice. Because of the short amount of daylight, the peak to be climbed will be fairly close to Calgary, have a short and straightforward approach, and be do-able as a 5-hour Moderate scramble under ideal conditions. Under winter conditions, this should translate to a 6-8 hour Difficult or "Climber's" scramble using Kane's terminology. All participants must be experienced in performing an ice axe self-arrest with and without crampons.

Distance: 14km
Cumulative Vertical Gain: 1100m
Sunrise: 0756 Sunset: 1647
Duration: 6-8 hours, plus driving time
Required Items to Bring:
Headlamp
Rock helmet
Ice axe
Crampons with anti-snow plates
Harness, 2 locking carabiners, 2 prussiks, 2 slings, 4 snap carabiners, very small rack (I'll be bringing 1 or 2 short 9mm club ropes)
Layered clothing for winter conditions, especially warm headgear, gloves, and mitts

Recommended Items to Bring:
Gaiters to keep scree & snow out of your boots
Hiking poles
Bear spray
