Itinerary:
This is a Backcountry Avalanche Workshop put on every year by the Canadian Avalanche Centre. It goes from 9am to 5pm at the Banff Centre, Max Bell Auditorium. Tickets on sale at the door only on a first-come first-serve basis. A free Avaluator is included with your $20 admission.

I was at this workshop last year and it was well worth it. There were lots of empty seats last year, but just in case, I plan to arrive at the Banff Centre by 8:30am at the latest. You can spend the time before the start of the workshop getting a bite to eat or in the lobby where there should be some information booths, demo gear to look at, and stuff for sale.

The workshop covers advanced topics. Anyone is welcome to come (I won't be screening participants), but to get any value out of it, you should have already completed the AST1 or equivalent course. You'll get the most out of the workshop if you've completed the AST2 or equivalent course, and/or combined with practical experience.

The CAC couldn't provide me with an agenda, so I can't tell you what topics will be covered. For further details, please go to http://www.avalanche.ca/CAC_Training_Workshop, or phone the CAC at 250-837-2141.

Cancellation/Partial Attendance:
Please review our participant responsibility guidelines!

*Cancellation Policy*: If a participant is unable to attend a paid course or trip, there will be no refund unless the participant finds a suitable replacement that is acceptable to the trip coordinator. Acceptable waiting list candidates will have priority. It will then be the participant's responsibility to recover funds from the replacement. If the coordinator cancels an event, participants get a refund (less any non-recoverable costs). Note that ACC National does not refund hut fees due to weather, delay, closures, or any other reasons. The Calgary Section of the ACC is a not for profit club and we only charge attendees what it costs us to provide courses or trips.
