Association, manager of the Alpine Club of Canada’s General Mountaineering Camp, and former owner/operator/guide – Golden Alpine Holidays (over 20 years). Brad will give a 40-minute avalanche awareness presentation with tips on mitigating your risk while traveling in the backcountry. He hopes to give the audience access to a number of tools that will help them get the most out of their winter adventures while limiting their exposure to avalanche hazards. His talk will focus on efficient use of terrain, incorporating the Avaluator and ATES into the backcountry enthusiast’s decision-making process, and a discussion of new safety equipment and rescue techniques. His goal is to help the audience identify and catalogue terrain, selecting “best” route options when traveling in avalanche terrain.
