Itinerary: |
Please meet at the recycle bins near the intersection of Stoney Trail
and Highway #1. Early departure time due to the time of year and
short days vs length of trip. Departure will be no later than 5:15,
please arrive no later than 5am so that car pooling can be arranged
on site. Drive to Helen Lake trail head, 29km North on the Icefields
Parkway. We will leave a car at the Mosquito Creek Hostel parking
area, (5km South) for the return.

Required Items to Bring: |
Avalanche awareness training, AT or Telemark Transceiver, probe,
avalanche shovel, ski/binding repair kit, personal first aid kit,
headlamp, extra clothing in case of emergency, Enthusiasm
|

Recommended Items to Bring: |
Besides the above avalanche gear, it is recommended to bring
extra clothing as most of this trip is above tree line and subject to
whiteout conditions.

Near corner of Stoney Trail and Highway #1. Please offer to assist
your driver for car expenses.

Notes: |
This trip passes through avalanche terrain requiring knowledge
of
avalanche hazards, how to minimize the risk and how to carry
out a rescue. This trip has been given a rating of complex class 3
on the Avalanche Terrain Exposure scale (ATES) by Parks
Canada. Much of the trip is above tree line and can be subject to
poor visibility with a descent through trees to Mosquito Creek. The
trip itinerary is subject to change depending on avalanche
hazard and weather conditions.

Cancellation/Partial Attendance: Please review our participant responsibility guidelines!

*Cancellation Policy*: If a participant is unable to attend a paid course or trip, there will be no refund unless the participant finds a suitable replacement that is acceptable to the trip coordinator. Acceptable waiting list candidates will have priority. It will then be the participant's responsibility to recover funds from the replacement. If the coordinator cancels an event, participants get a refund (less any non-recoverable costs). Note that ACC National does not refund hut fees due to weather, delay, closures, or any other reasons. The Calgary Section of the ACC is a not for profit club and we only charge attendees what it costs us to provide courses or trips.
