Itinerary:
Nordegg Ice Climbing Long Weekend Date: February 15-18 2013. Must register (online) and pay (cheque received by mail) by February 12 2013. Don’t Delay! Is this trip for you? This trip is organised a bit differently than the annual Ice Review. For the ice review, the section encourages all climbers of all abilities to participate. We always have several climbers who are very new to ice, or that don’t get out much that enjoy the mentoring of our more experienced leaders. The Nordegg weekend is intended for confident and experienced ice climbers. While there is usually a more experienced climber or two that are willing to take less experienced climbers out, the weekend typically draws climbers that are willing to lead ropes and trips together to enjoy a weekend away. If you are just 'learning the ropes,' then we would ask that you invite one of your more experienced friends to come along with you, or if you are not sure if this is the trip for you, drop a line to clareormerod@hotmail.co.uk describing your experience level. This trip is reserved for Calgary Section ACC members only!!! Nordegg is a family friendly place and there is lots that kids can do; toboggan, cross-country ski and attend the community winter festival on the lake with ice fishing, skating and hot chocolate and generally romp around in the snow. There is a separate building that will house the families with kids! The Plan: To have fun, play hard and eat lots!!! The plan is to drive up to Nordegg on Friday afternoon/evening. We will have all day Saturday, Sunday and Monday to climb. People generally break into their own small groups. The evenings, have in the past been filled with singing, dancing, hot-tubbing, various physical challenges and your basic socialising! Questions? Email clareormerod@hotmail.co.uk
Required Items to Bring:
Gear/Personal Food: You will need the usual climbing gear (harness, crampons, axes, screws, draws, ropes, helmet, etc…), a sleeping bag, personal gear and warm clothes. You may want to consider bringing your avi beacon if you have one. If you have radios bring ‘em! Don’t forget your swimsuit and towel! For personal food, you may want to bring a few of your favorite bars to supplement your lunch that will be provided and perhaps snacks for the evenings. There is a small convenience store and gas station nearby in Nordegg, but they don’t have too much—bring what you need! There are a couple of dogs on site, so if you have allergies bring your drugs! There are full showers, bunks, pillows and blankets provided. Booze can be stored in one of the large fridges on site, you will need to BYOB.

Recommended Items to Bring:
Please bring a bit of cash for a tip for our hosts! They work hard and always impress!!
