Itinerary: |
In the tradition of days long past, we are looking for a few hearty souls to help us to look for the "Shangra la" of camp spots for this year's Lyell Section Camp.
Saturday - we will travel to the trail head (~5 hours drive from Calgary) where we will set up camp Saturday night and enjoy some luxurious car camping in a remote setting.
Sunday - we will ascend the headwall NE of camp to the toe of the Mons Glacier. From here we will work north to the Lyell Glacier in search of the best spot for the 2012 section camp. This will be a long day with upwards of 1500m of vertical on rock, snow and ice. We will return to our "car camp" when the day is done to relax and get a good nights sleep.
Monday - we can either find a local scramble before driving home or just head out. We can decide on Sunday night.

Cancellation/Partial Attendance: Please review our participant responsibility guidelines!
*Cancellation Policy*: If a participant is unable to attend a paid course or trip, there will be no refund unless the participant finds a suitable replacement that is acceptable to the trip coordinator. Acceptable waiting list candidates will have priority. It will then be the participant's responsibility to recover funds from the replacement. If the coordinator cancels an event, participants get a refund (less any non-recoverable costs). Note that ACC National does not refund hut fees due to weather, delay, closures, or any other reasons. The Calgary Section of the ACC is a not for profit club and we only charge attendees what it costs us to provide courses or trips.
