Itinerary:

SECOND COURSE
Costs: $85/person for day of instruction

The course will cover the following:
piton placement
chockstone placement
Camming devices / SLCD placement
Anchor establishment
- EARNEST
- use of cordelletes
- use of equalettes
- use of the 'quad' anchor
belay station rope management

Participants should bring a harness, helmet, rock shoes, belay device, some 60cm sewn slings and carabiners, a 120cm sewn sling plus a cordellete or two, some locking and non-locking carabiners plus any rock climbing protection you may already own. Ideally bring a small rock climbing rack including 4 to 6 cams and a half dozen nuts if you own them. Be sure to have your lunch, water and lightweight but appropriate clothing packed.

It is expected that everyone will read the articles on 'Anchors in Earnest' available on the RescueDynamics.com website. It will provide a focus for some of our discussions and lessons.



Prerequisites: experience rock climbing including tying in, belaying and rappelling.

The meeting time and place for the course is 8:00 AM at Yamnuska parking lot.

Instructor: The course will be taught by Cyril Shokoples, an internationally certified mountain guide. Cyril has been guiding and teaching with the Alpine Club for several years, and has acquired a reputation for teaching excellence.

Price:

$85 per person.

First 6 cheques received from participants with required prerequisites will be accepted.

*Cancellation Policy*: If a participant is unable to attend a paid course or trip, there will be no refund unless the participant finds a suitable replacement that is acceptable to the trip coordinator. Acceptable waiting list candidates will have priority. It will then be the participant's responsibility to recover funds from the replacement. If the coordinator cancels an event, participants get a refund (less any non-recoverable costs). Note that ACC National does not refund hut fees due to weather, delay, closures, or any other reasons. The Calgary Section of the ACC is a not for profit club and we only charge attendees what it costs us to provide courses or trips.
